ABOUT ABOUT

The GRASP Lab is host of a Research Experience for Teachers (RET) site this summer. The Robotics RET involves 10 math and science teachers from 5 School District of Philadelphia public middle schools. Teachers are spending 6 weeks learning about and conducting research in the field of robotics while developing curriculum that can be applied in their classrooms in order to inspire and develop engineering and computer science skills in their students. Teachers collaborate with graduate students, faculty, and industry mentors. Work will continue into the school year as graduate students and industry mentors will work with teachers to implement content in the classroom.

During the Symposium, teachers will conduct 15 minute presentations on their research, experience, and the curriculum units developed in the program. Presentations will be followed by a lunch and poster session conducted by teachers. Presentations will be conducted in the areas of computer vision, legged robotics, microrobots, and flying robots.
